08/04/09 Auckland - Sale St

Seeing as Monte Cristo was sold out, we thought another show was in order. With little time on our hands we managed to pull together a 2nd Auckland show with help from the fine folks at Sale St. It really was a shitty night weather wise in AK, still the venue was pumping. Manuel Bundy kept the vibe nice until we took the stage at around 10.30pm. Things were really warming up within the band by this stage. Iva was really getting comfortable with the band and there was a really good vibe to the evening. We played for almost 2 hours before going back for an encore. For a school night we were all impressed with the energy of the Auckland crowd. Great way to end the tour. As we celebrated with tequila and beers backstage, Bobby Brazuka took to the decks playing a killer set to end the night. Big thanks to the Sale St crew, the DJ's and once again all that came along.

04/04/09 Auckland - Monte Cristo Room

After a week of recovery we are all looking forward to this one - sold out show, nice! Unfortunately our drummer Willy has taken a turn for the worse and on top of this is also suffering badly from a shoulder injury. We are all concerned, however instead of letting this get to him he decides to give even more in his performance than usual as we rip into The Ace Of Space. Not long into the set and sweat is dripping of the ceiling - they need some vents in that place. Regardless we had a stonking good time and would like to send much love out to all our Auckland fans that came long - yeayah! Also a big thanks to T.Rice and Co. for keeping the party going til the wee hours.

28/03/09 Dunedin - Sammy's

We meet for breakfast, before making our way to Dunedin. It wasn't long before we decided to pull over to get something out of the back of the van. Unfortunately the door wouldn't open. 3 hours later after locksmiths and auto electrician specialist we get into the van and continue on to Dunners. Eventually after a speeding ticket we pull in to Sammy's for soundcheck. What an incredible venue, a massive old theatre with so much history. All manner of artists have performed here over the years and its a privilege to play on the same stage as so many reputable bands. We're all feeling pretty damn exhausted by this stage but soon to be reviatalised by a large receptive crowd. I end up slicing my finger open after smashing it against a cowbell. The adrenaline allowed this to go unnoticed for a few songs - at which point there was blood all over my percussion and keyboard - so Jon Toogood. Another awesome gig, great venue and friendly staff. Much respect Dunedin.

27/03/09 Christchurch - The Bedford

Another long drive brings us rocking into Christchurch around 5pm for soundcheck, after which we get an hour to relax at the motel before we are treated to a beautiful dinner courtesy of the venue at a great local Teppanyaki restaurant. We hit the stage around 11 to an enthusiastic crowd, play for 2 hours before packing down and heading out to some local bars. Lets just say that it was an evening worthy of a decent hangover. We head home around 4am with a lobby call of 10am. Thanks Christchurch - see you again soon.

26/03/09 Nelson - Phat Club

The shortest drive of the tour - 1.5 hours brings us into Nelson early avo. We head out for food, check in to the accom and head to soundcheck. Gig was awesome - one of our favourites. After the show Spikey keeps the vibe right with some drum 'n' bass as we know how the Nelson people love their d 'n' b. Some hardcore Rosa fans that need a shout out - big ups to Eve for the last minute PR campaign, you rule! As well as Ricky and Bernie (our #1 fan - no doubt) for your total enthusiasm. We look forward to our next Nelson visit.

25/03/09 Onekaka - Mussel Inn

We meet up at 5am for a 12 hour day of travel - fly to Wellington, ferry to Nelson and a drive to Onekaka. On arrival we were blown away by the beauty and eccentricity of the venue - an incredible wooden room full of history. There's a lot of character and love in the Mussel Inn, you can feel it when you walk in the room. We treated ourselves to one of their tasty micro brewery beers brewed on site while we set up for soundcheck. Afterwards we were escorted to a house directly behind the venue where we stayed the night. Hard to describe but kinda like something out of Hansel and Gretel. We performed at around 11pm after a beautiful meal provided by the venue. The gig was sold out and the crowd was killer - we love you Onekaka. Much respect. The following morning we were treated to coffee and muffins on the deck of the Mussel Inn, leaving around midday with full bellies and smiles on our faces, on the road to Nelson.

21/03/09 Wellington - SFBH

An beautiful drive from Gisborne - beautiful sunny day, but one hell of a distance before we get to Welly. Not much to eat in town so early in the morning so we pull over for coffee and pan au chocolat. I get a phone call half way to tell me that someone has been using my credit card details to pay for food, booze and massage parlors and in the process my card has been cancelled. Anyway, we eventually roll in to Wellington through heavy rain to set up for soundcheck. Afterwards we head to our favourite malaysian curry house for a meal before going back to the hotel for a 1 hour relax and refresh. We hit the stage around 11.30pm to a rocking Welly crowd. Iva was a hometown favourite, and rightly so. We finish around 1.30. Nice to see some of the Rhombus crew backstage after the show. Respect Wellington!

20/03/09 Gisborne - Soho Bar

First day of touring. After a 7 hour drive we arrive at Soho for soundcheck. We meet Iva at the motel. This will be the first time she's ever played with us. After an hour of relaxing we head to Soho for a great meal courtesy of the venue. Spikey kicks the night off DJing while we wait for people to arrive. We hit the stage at around 11pm to a full Soho Bar. Gotta say Gisborne - you know how to party. An awesome night to kick things off, with all hands on the ceiling in approval (check the tour pics). We pack out around 3am and hit the sack in prep for a long drive to Wellington - 8am.
